The fashion industry is responsible for 5-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). More and more companies are using Carbon Management Platforms to measure and create CO2 reduction plans. However, most of these solutions are generalist, so they are not tailored for a fashion brand, which requires detailed insights on the impacts of materials, manufacturing processes, or the “life cycle analysis” impact of its products.

This is why we developed Carbonfact, the only Carbon Management Platform dedicated to the textile and fashion industry. Our platform automates life-cycle assessment at the product level and carbon accounting and reporting at the company level. Equipped with Carbonfact, fashion companies model out product-level change to build their company’s broader environmental trajectory.

We raised a total of $17 million from Alven, Headline, Y Combinator and angel investors. Now, hundreds of brands and fashion groups are using Carbonfact (e.g. New Balance, Carhartt, Allbirds, Adore Me, Armedangels, Fusalp, Allbirds, Happy Socks, etc.).

Science at Carbonfact

As Science Associate, you will report directly to PhD Laurent Vandepaer (ex- LCA lead at On) who is Carbonfact's Head of Science and will play a crucial role in deploying Carbonfact customers.

Your end goal will be the same as everyone in the company: making our customers delighted and helping them reduce their environmental impacts.

Your responsibilities include:

• Participate in the deployment of customers
• Accurately map emission factors derived from credible sources such as EF 3.1 and Ecoinvent, among others as well as primary customer data.
• Partner closely with customers to enhance their data collection processes, reduce uncertainty, and improve the quality of their LCA results
  
  

What we’re looking for

• At least 3 years of experience in LCA (Life-Cycle Assessment) and strong knowledge of LCA databases and emission factors
• Experience with LCA software such as Brightway, OpenLCA, or SimaPro
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Fluent in English
• Located in Paris or Basel

• We determine the compensation package (salary + equity) based on an internal grid which is fully transparent. At the time of hiring, we’ll determine your level based on the position, your track-record and experience. You will then be promoted to higher levels based on your performance and your impact on the company. Each level is associated with a predetermined compensation.
